FORM - 2020 Launch

The new collection FORM has been inspired by the shapes, textures and patterns in brutalist elements in Aberdeen. How these are often thought of as harsh and ugly but perceptions can change when these forms swap textures or alter colours and are re-seen.

In late 2019 there was a petition to get the 1960’s high-rise Seamount flats A-listed (they are not listed at time of writing this post). Mhairi decided to go take images and sketches around the flats. High-rise flats and their surroundings have always been an interest; from their design, their original purpose and the communities within them. They often were created with play areas around them, brutalist concrete playgrounds. The fascination in these spaces grew more when the installation Brutalist Playground was shown in Peacock Visual Arts in Aberdeen. At Seamount and Porthill court have the left-over remnants of one of these playgrounds. There’s what looks like steppingstones, a train and a slide. Leading up to them are a set of open staircases which ended up being the main inspiration for the pattern design.

As always, we’re committed to doing better. That’s why we are so excited to be working with Scottish Linen in Fife as our fabric supplier for our cushion backing for FORM collection. Ethically producing the best quality linen and with a wealth of knowledge, they were established in 1825. Our wash bag lining fabric is also now confirmed Oeko-Tex 100. Which means that there are no harmful substances in this fabric. A very good certificate to have when fabric has been through a dyeing process. Find out more about Oeko-Tex here. As always out pattern design and products are designed to last. Meaning you can be assured you aren’t only buying something beautiful but also sustainable.
