The Making Hour .4
Look up
Anyone remember that kids’ TV show in the 90’s called Come Outside? There was a lady with a spotty plane and a dog, I think he was called Pip. Anyway, the theme tune went “Look up, look down, look all around…” and that’s what I always seem to get stuck in my head when I’m out on a wander.
I love having a nosey about when I go on a walk, spotting things I haven’t seen before on routes I trod often. This week for the making hour I went for a couple of wanders around my favourite spots in Aberdeen and the shire to ignite my creative energy.
This week coming I’ll be doing some screen printing! So, to get my mind out of the admin slump it’s in I kick started it with wanders. The focus? Up! Looking up distorts the normal view I have when walking and I see interesting shapes and lines. You do get some funny looks not going to lie but I think I’m used to that now.
If you’re going to go out looking up remember to take it all in. Only take a few pictures when you feel it’s needed. I only take a few snaps as it means I am looking more and not just getting a phone full of pictures. It’s about seeing things in a different perspective. Even better if you have a bit longer why not take a little sketchbook and draw what you see? Think I’ll do that next time.
