Grey + Blue
“The action of screen printing has always been a calming one for me. With these wall hangings, I combined my love of screen printing and embroidery to create a modern piece of textiles art that can translate that effect to the space it hangs in.” – Mhairi
As seen in Sunday Mail - Seven Days supplement.
Wellbeing has come to the front of our minds and we feel lucky that we can escape the everyday issues into a world of creativity. We wanted to share this with others so created a range of workshops, notebooks, sketchbooks and now wall hangings, as we know the positive effect that art in the home has.
This wall hanging was one of our favourites to create. The repetitive nature of the spaced-out satin stitch in blue brought time to unwind in the evenings as Mhairi stitched away. Due to a couple of grey, white, black and pink ink spots from printing, we are popping this one up as a sample second.

We’ve carefully chosen materials for their sustainable qualities, even opting for linen rope instead of cotton, as linen uses less water to produce. The wood for the rods is off-cut or FSC Certified. We worked with a woodworker called William who made each top hanging rod by hand, creating unique angles and marks on each. We love looking at them and seeing differences each time. The fabric we print on is sourced from Scottish Linen in Fife, the last linen mill in Scotland. Plus, the ink we print with is water-based and because Mhairi prints them herself she controls the amount of ink and water used to reduce waste.
We’re working with EForests to plant a tree for each Wall Hanging bought. By doing this we hope to help repopulate any wood used in the making of our products. Read more here - More info.
The designs all come from the sketchbook built up when researching the FORM project. These motifs come from the same concrete brutalist staircase as the FORM mainline print.
“I love that something as practical as a staircase can offer so much inspiration.” – Mhairi
Seamount Court, where the stairs are situated, has been given A-listed status in 2021, along with another 7 high-rises in Aberdeen.
