The Making Hour .17
It’s been a while since our last making hour because there’s been a lot going on making wise with getting the shedio workshop ready, which means more printing soon! So to help relax after a busy few weeks I’ve been doing a spot of collage.
I haven’t collaged for ages but when moving all the stuff out to the workshop I found a stash of papers and mono-prints.
I cut out the mono printed D-shapes and placed them until I thought they looked pleasing.
There needed to be some colour in there so I used scrap paper and off cuts of fabrics and leather.
The difference in textures add to a collage to make it more interesting. It’s all about balancing the textures, colours, shapes and line to create some interesting patterns. I’ve always been drawn to collage. Something about layering has always interested me, probably why I’m a printer!
Since late 2020 I’ve been working on a project supported by Creative Scotland in which I looked at the importance of creativity to our wellbeing and how to connect to people in order to share being creative. This project is finished but what I’ve learned has rooted this connection firmly in my practice. That’s why I’m going to do a drawing club via Instagram live! So over a few weeks this month I’ll be popping on lives to share some of my favourite drawing techniques! Follow me on Instagram to find out more and join in!
